Ruth 1–4 → A complete account of Ruth’s life, from her decision to follow Naomi to her redemption by Boaz.
This short but profound book shows us how faithfulness, even in the midst of pain, can pave the way to redemption. Ruth, a foreign woman, becomes part of Jesus’ lineage through her faith and determination.
🌿 Introduction
In the midst of loss and uncertainty, Ruth chose to stay. Her story is a testimony of loyal love, diligent work, and restored hope. Through her life, God teaches us that everyday faithfulness can have an eternal impact. Ruth was not only a faithful daughter-in-law, but a woman of faith who walked into the unknown trusting in her mother-in-law’s God.
👑 Her story
Ruth was a Moabite, married to an Israelite who died, along with her brother-in-law and father-in-law. Her mother-in-law, Naomi, decided to return to Bethlehem, and although she offered Ruth the freedom to rebuild her life, Ruth chose to go with her. Her decision was not only familial but spiritual: she embraced the God of Israel as her own.
In Bethlehem, Ruth worked gleaning in the fields to support Naomi. There she met Boaz, a kinsman-redeemer who admired her character and redeemed her according to the law. Together they had a son, Obed, the grandfather of King David.
✨ What it teaches us
Ruth leaves us with profound lessons:
- Faithfulness opens doors to redemption: Her loyalty to Naomi led her to become part of God’s plan.
- Faith transcends cultures: Though a Moabite, she was welcomed because of her faith and character.
- God honors diligent work: Her effort in the fields did not go unnoticed.
- Hope blooms in brokenness: Her story began in mourning, but ended in fullness.
